From technical coach to full-blown pyrotechics, Firechief Darryl Sutter has put blowtorch to branding iron in the hiring of the noted arsonist Mike Keenan as the Calgary Flames new Head Coach. There can be no mistake as to which direction the Flames are headed now. When the smoke clears, nothing less than a hydrant-shaped silver thing-a-ma-bob will do.
Handling the hose is one Jim Playfair, though you have to wonder what direction the nozzle points to. Probably unfairly made out to be the saltpetre on a largely unignited stinkbomb of a season, Playfair retreats with burnt fingers and hopefully all the wiser (although you have to wonder if he eventually suffers the same ignominious fate as one-time Real Life™ fireman Don Hay).
All that remains to be seen is the willingness of the current station hands to slide down the Keenan pole. It's a bull-blown Five Alarmer for sure.
